Lavoura’s Website
About the Project
We were asked to design a website based on a previous project we completed; it could be a brand book for the project, a redesign, a mock website, etc. With this prompt, I chose to revisit a coffee shop brand I created called Lavoura. Lavoura is a coffee and wine bar located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I based everything on the original branding I created, with some tweaks to make the design better and more web-friendly. I decided to go the route of creating a mock business, my site consisted of a home, about, our brand, housing the brand statements and values I created, a products page, and a menu page. If you wish to see the original branding, there is a button down below.

Changes Made to Original Branding
Looking back at the original branding I had created, I decided to make some changes to improve the design. When I opened my brand guides again after about 2 years, InDesign alerted me that my fonts were no longer available. I tried to re-look for them, and they simply don’t exist. I quickly changed them, but I wasn’t happy with the fonts I chose, and they would not work with the font plugin, so I changed those to be web-friendly. The font used as the secondary type in my logo and the font used for headers were the same, so when I changed the fonts for the header, I also changed them in the logos. Looking back at the color palette, the white on dark brown was a little straining on the eyes when looking at it for too long, so I opted for a cream instead of a white. I also adjusted the cooler tan to be a warmer tan since the cooler tan felt way too cool with the rest of the colors. I also added a champagne pink color to add another light color that would read well on a dark background. When I first designed the brand, I did a coffee cup and bag mockup, which I decided was too simple and needed a bit more, so I completely re-designed the packaging.
