Ambrosia
About the Project
For this project, we were tasked with designing a beverage package for a drink of our choice, a brand story, targeted consumers, and multiple flavor variations. I chose to design an iced tea can, specifically peach tea, because that is my favorite. When deciding on a name, I wanted to choose something that was related to tea. Ambrosia is a type of black tea, but also means food/drink of the gods in Greek. With the Greek definition of Ambrosia, I decided to lean into Greek mythology, inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, depicting the goddess Aphrodite emerging from a shell. I associate shells with the sea and mermaids based on Greek mythologies, sirens, which are half bird, half human. Mermaids are the Western adaptations of sirens. So I combined this idea of mermaids originating as sirens from Greek mythology with Aphrodite emerging from the sea in a shell.
Ambrosia started on a sunny day, with the desire for a refreshing summer beverage to quench the thirst for something a little extra. What more perfect for a summer day than a sweet iced tea? Sustainably packaged and made with no desire for artificial sweeteners or artificial flavors. Inspired by both the tea Ambrosia and the Greek term for drink of the gods. Ambrosia is not just tea, but an experience and art in a can. Perfect for the summer, whether you just need a drink on a hot day, to relax after your day, or to savor the moment.
